Hand drawn design of a Tiger Shark by West Melbourne artist, Jess McDonald, printed on 100% organic cotton slim fit unisex t shirt.
From 1962 to 2016, this is whats happened. The white shark, 92 per cent gone. Whaler sharks, 82 per cent gone. Tiger sharks, 74 per cent gone. And theyre still hunting the last few that are left. Valerie Taylor
The most dangerous shark of the sea. A tiger shark will literally eat anything.
Despite the tiger shark having a fearsome reputation,? it is on the brink of being a threatened species. Over fishing and finning has meant tiger shark numbers have declined. They are fished for their meat, skin, fins and livers which are high in vitamin A. As they are slow to reproduce, decline in numbers means it is difficult for the Tiger Shark to recover from over fishing.?
Called a Tiger Shark because of its vertical stripes they have when juveniles. These stripes almost fade to nothing in adulthood.?
